Jérôme-Théodore Lingenheim

Jérôme-Théodore Lingenheim MAfr (born November 9, 1906 in Hochstett , Alsace , † May 3, 1985 in Sokodé ) was Bishop of Sokodé .

Life

Lingenheim joined the order of the White Fathers and was ordained a priest on January 3, 1932 . Pope Pius XII appointed him on June 7, 1946 as Apostolic Prefect of Sokodé in Togo .

With the elevation of the Apostolic Prefecture to a diocese, Lingenheim became the first bishop of Sokodé on July 4, 1956. The episcopal ordination donated him on October 28th of the same year Jean-Julien Weber , Bishop of Strasbourg . Co-consecrators were Hubert Joseph Paulissen , Bishop Emeritus of Kumasi , and Emile Durrheimer , Bishop of Katiola . Lingenheim took part in the Second Vatican Council from 1962 to 1965 . On November 18, 1964, Pope Paul VI. his resignation and appointed him titular bishop of Thunudruma , which he remained until his death in 1985.
