The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi ( Latin Archidioecesis Kumasiensis , English Archdiocese of Kumasi ) is a in Ghana situated Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Kumasi . It covers some western districts of the Ashanti region .

history
Pope Pius XI founded the Apostolic Vicariate Kumasi with the Breve Cum diffusis on February 2, 1932 from cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Gold Coast . On April 18, 1950, it was raised to the rank of diocese and it was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Cape Coast as a suffragan diocese.
With the bull Ad totius dominici on December 22, 2001 it was raised to the rank of metropolitan archbishopric.
It lost parts of its territory in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:
- March 1, 1973 to the Diocese of Sunyani ;
- March 3, 1995 to the diocese of Konongo-Mampong ;
- March 3, 1995 to the Diocese of Obuasi .
The seat of the Archbishop of Kumasi is the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Kumasi.
