Peter Kwasi Sarpong

Peter Kwasi Sarpong (born February 26, 1933 in Maase-Offinso ) is senior archbishop of Kumasi .

Life

Peter Kwasi Sarpong was ordained a priest on December 11, 1959 and was incardinated in the clergy of the Kumasi diocese . Paul VI appointed him Bishop of Kumasi on November 20, 1969.

The Archbishop of Cape Coast , John Kodwo Amissah , ordained him episcopally on March 8 the next year ; Co- consecrators were Joseph Amihere Essuah , Bishop of Sekondi-Takoradi and Peter Poreku Dery , Bishop of Wa .

John Paul II raised the diocese to archbishopric on January 17, 2002 and thus he was appointed archbishop of Kumasi. On March 26, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
