The Bistum Katiola ( lat. : Dioecesis Katiolaensis ) is in the Ivory Coast preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Katiola . It includes the Ferkessédougou department in the Savanes region and the Katiola and Dabakala departments in the Vallée du Bandama region .
history
With the Apostolic Constitution Eius Successores, Pope Pius X founded the Apostolic Prefecture Korhogo on November 13, 1958 from ceded territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Ivory Coast . She was promoted to Vicariate Apostolic on May 15, 1952 .
With the bull Dum tantis it was elevated to a diocese on September 14, 1955, which was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Abidjan as a suffragan diocese. On December 19, 1994 it became part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Korhogo.
It lost parts of its territory in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:
- September 13, 1963 to the Diocese of Abengourou ;
- October 15, 1971 to the Diocese of Korhogo .
