Ferkessédougou (colloquially Ferké ) is a city in the north of the Ivory Coast and the administrative seat of the department of the same name within the administrative region of Savanes .
According to the 2014 census, the city has 120,150 inhabitants and is an important trade center on the road connecting the border crossings to Burkina Faso and Mali . It is located at the intersection of the A3 and A12 national roads and has a train station on the railway line from Abidjan to Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso. The administrative capital Korhogo is 53 km west of the city. Approx. The Comoé National Park begins 90 km to the east .
The economy of the Ferkessédougou department is predominantly characterized by agriculture. Cotton and sugar cane in particular are grown on the plantations in the area . These agricultural products are processed in Ferkessédougou.
