Müllenberg nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Müllenberg nature reserve with a size of 33.5  hectares is located southeast of Padberg in the urban area of Marsberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2001 with the Hoppecketal landscape plan .

Area description

The NSG is a forest area on a diabase underground. The forest consists of red beech forest and areas with oak, hornbeam and spruce.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the species-rich forest there. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
