Marie's father Ernst, the fire brigade commander, rescues the two of them from the burning barn. Daniel doesn't want to stand by what he did and Max doesn't want to betray his friend. Of course, Stefan stands by his son and thus puts the relationship with Marie to the test. In addition, the Wildegg volunteer fire brigade has a problem with the offspring, Ernst wants to hand over the post of commander to Stefan, but the neighboring community wants to take over the fire brigade. Reviews
Tilmann P. Gangloff from Tittelbach.tv said about the first two episodes:
“Again, as with“ Hanna Hellmann ”and“ Lena Lorenz ”, ZDF is taking the risk of filling the central role of a new series of women’s films with a practically unknown actress. The Bavarian cabaret artist Christine Eixenberger does her job splendidly. The beginning of “Marie catches fire” is less unusual: the evening before the wedding of the title heroine with her fiancé Stefans, the barn in which the celebration is to take place is on fire. The arsonist is Stefan's teenage son, who wants to prevent the wedding. Otherwise the film obeys the usual framework conditions for a conventional homeland drama; Nevertheless, switching on is worthwhile simply because of Eixenberger. "
To the third and fourth episode:
“Without a long introduction,“ Alone was yesterday ”continues the story as if ZDF had broadcast“ Marie catches fire ”(Wiedemann & Berg) only last week. But it doesn't matter, because Christine Eixenberger also seamlessly ties in with her achievements from the first two films: The still little-known actress impresses with her great naturalness, many of her scenes seem as if they were created spontaneously. In terms of content, the new episodes are not unusual: Actually, Marie should clarify the relationships with her fiancé and the father of her son, but she hardly ever gets to that because, like all heroines of the helper genre, she has to deal with the problems of others.
