Katharina Müller-Elmau (born September 13, 1965 in Göttingen ) is a German actress , musician and voice actress .

Life

Katharina Müller-Elmau comes from the third generation of a theater family. Her grandfather was Eberhard Müller-Elmau , her father Raidar Müller-Elmau was best known for his appearances in two of the three Immenhof films. Her uncle Markwart Müller-Elmau is also an actor, her brother Alexander Müller-Elmau is a set designer and director. She was trained in acting by her grandfather. Her great-grandfather was the philosopher Johannes Müller , founder of Schloss Elmau . At a young age she was a founding member of the rock band Freaky Fukin Weirdoz and was active as a drummer for Asmodi Bizarr before her acting career .

From 1988 to 1997 she was engaged at the Bavarian State Theater. There she worked with directors such as Robert Lepage , Martin Kušej , Matthias Hartmann , August Everding and Jérôme Savary . At the same time, she continued to study acting and singing. She composed the incidental music for three productions at the Residenztheater in Munich. Engagements at the Schauspielhaus Bochum (2001) and at the Hamburger Kammerspiele (2003) followed.

With the swing band Die Blaue Engel , which she founded, she made guest appearances as Maria Thura from 1997 to 2001 on the most important German theaters. She wrote and directed the stage programs for the group herself.

She stood in front of the camera for the first time in 1983 and has since acted in numerous TV and feature films. She worked with directors such as Sönke Wortmann ( Drei D , Eine Wahnsinnsehe) , Caroline Link (Kalle, the dreamer) and Hannu Salonen ( Tatort ).

In 2009 she shot the film Vincent Will Meer , directed by Ralf Huettner , for which she was nominated for the German Film Prize in 2011 as best supporting actress .

Katharina Müller-Elmau is a member of the European and German Film Academy .
