Herz im Kopf is a German feature film from 2001.

action

After his mother dies, Jakob ( Tom Schilling ) leaves home in the middle of the school year and moves to his father in Berlin. When he was not happy there either, he moved to his sister Petra in Frankfurt; this is where the film begins. Petra ( Anna von Berg ) has just been left by her boyfriend, is pregnant and already has to look after her eight-year-old son Patrick. Jacob decides to help her. When he meets the Polish au pair Wanda ( Alicja Bachleda-Curuś ), he falls in love with her; Wanda hesitates, however. Jakob is jealous of Dirk ( Matthias Schweighöfer ) who Wanda also makes advances. In addition, Wanda's au pair parents don't like Jakob. To make matters worse, he also has to grapple with his former scout buddy Helmut ( Sebastian Kroehnert ). Despite all this, Jakob and Wanda are slowly getting closer to each other.

background

The Gutmann / Schmid team of authors had already written the script together for films like Nach Fünf im Urwald , 23 - Nothing is as it seems and crazy written and celebrated cinema successes. So far, Hans-Christian Schmid had directed these blockbuster hits , and for the first time Michael Gutmann was at Herz im Kopf .

The Polish actress and singer Alicja Bachleda-Curuś was already a star in her home country due to the epic Pan Tadeusz , directed by Andrzej Wajda, and had her first German lessons before shooting Herz im Kopf .

Reviews

  • Lexicon of international film : An excellent youth film , characterized by small gestures and lovingly sketched people, carried by convincing actors. The unspectacular story is told far from fashionable references and, precisely through its reserved nature, creates a space of "youth" that spans time.
