action

Finally, the single parent and unemployed mother Antonia Sandmann can rest in the bathtub, her son Felix is already crying, another baby. Annoyed, she rushes to him and forgets to turn off the water. The Stuttgart traffic policeman Leo Fink, who lives below her, has developed an improvement for urban traffic that is intended to solve the traffic problems for the 2006 World Cup . He wants to participate in a tender of the traffic management, to which Leo is subordinate. This tender is organized by the head of the authority Vera Becker, whom Leo secretly loves, and her deputy, Mr. Schnöbel. He is in the process of showing his friend and supervisor Stefan Grenz a computer simulation of this idea when the overflowing water penetrates his apartment and short-circuits the computer. This isn't the first time he has taken damage from Antonia. When he wants to complain to her, it ends with the two mopping up the bath water together. He's hoping for Antonia's insurance, but she canceled after the last claim.

When Leo comes home the next day, he finds Antonia and Felix on the doorstep. Shortly before, she had quarreled with Georg Kriewitz Jr., her former superior and the child's father. She forgot her apartment key. Leo takes care of Max while Antonia gets the key. When Leo gets milk for Felix, he meets Vera Becker, who is very interested in the baby; he makes her believe that Felix is his son. The deadline for the presentation, which was only saved on the computer, is approaching. Leo has to rewrite them, but he has a very pronounced spelling weakness . So he dictates the presentation to Antonia, who worked as a secretary before Felix was born. In return, he waives the compensation. The next day he gets Antonia to go straight to her previous job; she gets it back. So Leo can take Felix with him to hand in his presentation. On the way there, it is spoiled by Felix's milk. But now Leo takes care of Felix more often and uses the opportunity to meet Vera Becker more often with him, who soon begins to be interested in Leo. One day Antonia meets the two of them. She notices how Leo is using Felix and reacts angrily. Leo can calm her down, but has to pay her something for it in the future.

This way, Leo has the opportunity to present his proposal to everyone in charge. Shortly before handing in, he has to enter a few street names into the simulation program, which he then types down letter by letter. In doing so, however, he makes some mistakes, as he notices after the handover. Since Antonia thinks this can be fixed in a few minutes, he secretly smuggles her into the traffic control one evening to fix the problem there. This succeeds, however, Antonia is caught by Vera Becker on the way back. Leo rushes to it, while Antonia gets the impression that it's not about Leo's professional development, but about his relationship with Vera and leaves the building angrily. Vera, on the other hand, learns that Felix is not Leo's son.

The next morning he wants to apologize to both women. But Antonia is already in the office, where she introduces the company owner to his grandson. He immediately decides to offer her the management of the project she was working on, but she would have to move to Florida to do so . Shortly thereafter, Antonia realizes that she is Felix's father unsuitable as a husband and father and decides to fly to Florida. The attempt to apologize to Vera doesn't really work either, but she has recognized that the concept is good and still wants to hold the meeting. When the angry Kriewitz wants to confront Leo, he is kept away from the meeting, but out of concern for Antonia, Leo leaves the presentation he is giving. Leo learns that Antonia wants to go to Florida and is already on the way to the airport. Since he couldn't reach her there in time and she doesn't answer his phone calls either, he uses the information boards in the traffic control system to ask her to stay in Stuttgart and to confess his love to her. Antonia turns back with a remark about his spelling. He and Antonia are getting married.

reception

The critics of the world mean, “Maybe you don't have to say so much about the film.” The criticism is that Anica Dobra is already being cast as mother again, because the “Balkan Bardot” is still much too young for that. She is “of course great”, but “actually all the participants in the film are played on the wall by this baby.” In any case, mothers will like the film.

The lexicon of the international film saw in A baby to fall in love a "[P] ointen-rich comedy", Prisma a "punchy and sympathetically staged love comedy". Marion Neumann from the SZ also found the film "[z] um neighing funny". The television magazine TV Spielfilm , on the other hand, pointed the thumb down and summed up "A pacifier doesn't make a comedy."
