Valérie Lemercier ( va.le.ʁi lə.mɛʁ.sje ; born March 9, 1964 in Dieppe , Haute-Normandie , France ) is a French actress , film director , screenwriter and singer .

Life

Valérie Lemercier studied acting at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Rouen in Rouen . She then played theater and made her debut in 1988 alongside Pierre Arditi and Jean Carmet in the television film Palace, directed by Jean-Michel Ribes . In her acting career she has been nominated four times for the French César film award. In 1994 and 2007, she was awarded the César for Best Supporting Actress for her roles in The Visitors and A Perfect Place .
