action
The three young women Grace, her stepsister Meg and Grace's best friend Emma want to fly to Paris . Grace has been saving for this trip for a long time. Unfortunately, the trip ends in a disaster, because their hotel turns out to be a shabby dump and the sightseeing bus , which chases them past all the sights at high speed, does not wait for the three, but leaves without them after climbing the Eiffel Tower . When the three women decide to take a break from their lousy tour and sneak into the lobby of a 5-star hotel, Grace is mistaken for a wealthy heiress named Cordelia. Before she even gets to reveal her true identity, the three of them are already entangled in a jumble of paparazzi , private planes and romances.
Emma persuades the two of them to take advantage of the fortunate turn of their trip and to accept the invitation to Monte Carlo . Since Grace is not averse to this proposal, they fly to the Côte d'Azur, contrary to Meg's concerns . In Monte Carlo, Grace meets the attractive Theo Marchand, who thinks she is an arrogant chick and treats her that way at first. But she can convince him more and more of herself with her natural way and so the two fall in love. Meanwhile, Meg gets to know the globetrotter Riley, with whom she has a lot of fun and with whom she feels safe for the first time since her mother's death. He also offers her to travel around the world with him, but she refuses for the time being. Meanwhile, Emma feels very flattered when a prince takes her out to dinner. To impress him, she puts on Cordelia's valuable necklace , which Meg takes off later that evening on the grounds that the necklace does not belong to Emma and puts it in Riley's pocket.
The next morning Cordelia appears in Monte Carlo and discovers the hoax. She reports her necklace to the police as stolen. Grace, Meg and Emma drive to the train station to stop Riley, who is about to leave without knowing that the necklace is in his pocket. They don't catch him anymore, but a little later they meet him at the hotel. He discovered the valuable piece and wanted to give it back to the three of them. Meanwhile, preparations are underway for an important auction at which the necklace is also to be auctioned. To make the mess perfect, Emma's boyfriend Owen shows up in Monte Carlo to apologize to her because the two had argued violently because of Owen's jealousy before Emma left for Paris . Emma tries to keep the real Cordelia trapped in her hotel room so that Grace can sell the necklace for as much money as possible for a good cause at the auction. Cordelia escapes and exposes the hoax in the auction room. But Grace tearfully asks the guests present to help anyway and Alicie, Cordelia's aunt, buys the necklace for several million to support the building of schools, for which Theo's father is also responsible. Theo Marchand, who feels betrayed by Grace, leaves the hall.
Meg decides to travel with Riley and accompanies him to Machu Picchu . Emma moves in with Owen. Grace begins an internship and helps set up new schools. At the same time Theo Marchand shows up and the two introduce themselves again, this time Grace naming her real name.
criticism
“The visually unimaginative comedy of confusion begins as an escapist teenage fantasy, but then ends up easily in high society, whose values it adores. The naturally acting leading actress as well as some pretty directorial ideas don't make the film any more entertaining. "
"Director Thomas Bezucha (" The Stone family - no engagements! ") Is annoying with these boring clothes right from the start. The characters are introduced poorly and almost repulsively, the dialogues are stupid, the situation hair-raising horrible. In short: a film that is simply not right. In addition, there is the acting inability of the main actors. Simply terrible!"
