ALMA Award

The American Latino Media Arts Awards ( ALMA Awards for short ) are given to Latin American actors , directors and musicians who have made a positive contribution to the public image of their compatriots.

The award was launched in 1995 by the US National Council of La Raza to counteract negative stereotypes in the US entertainment industry. The awards are presented annually.
