Rico Rodriguez (born July 31, 1998 in College Station , Texas ) is an American actor and child actor . He was best known for his role as Manny Delgado on the ABC sitcom Modern Family . He also wrote a book that was published in 2012.

Earlier life

Rodriguez was born in Bryan, Texas , to Diane and Roy Rodriguez, who owns a tire business called Rodriguez Tire. His siblings are brothers Ray and Roy Jr. and sister Raini Rodriguez who is an actress. He is of Mexican descent.

Rodriguez's father Roy died on March 12, 2017 at the age of 52.

Career

Until 2006, Rodriguez had no ambitions to become an actor. It was only through his sister, the child actress Raini Rodriguez , that he came into contact with acting. He made his first television appearance in a clip of the show Jimmy Kimmel Live! . This was followed by episode roles in the series Simply Cory , Marriage Is ... , Emergency Room - The Emergency Room , Nip / Tuck - Beauty Has Its Price , My Name Is Earl and Navy CIS . He achieved his breakthrough with his continuous role in Modern Family , while his film appearances were limited to small roles. For his work in Modern Family , he has twice won a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the ensemble for best actor ensemble in a comedy series, in 2011 and 2012.

In 2012 he published a book called Reel Life Lessons ... So Far .
