Within the group, New Regency Productions , founded in 1991 by Milchan, acts as a film production company, while television productions are realized by Regency Television , a joint venture established in 1999 between Regency and Fox Television Studios .

history

Regency works together with permanent partners for the distribution of their productions, from 1991 to 1998 Warner Bros. was responsible for the distribution of the New Regency productions. During 1998, a new 15-year distribution agreement was signed with 20th Century Fox (TCF) that went into effect in early 1999 and enabled Regency Television to be founded. The distribution agreement secures TCF the worldwide distribution rights, with the exception of the foreign television rights, which Regency manages individually, and the US pay television rights, for which there is a fixed agreement with Home Box Office . An exception is the German-speaking area, for which there is a sales and financing agreement with Epsilon Motion Pictures, a former Kirch subsidiary that Kinowelt bought in November 2005 .

Well-known productions are Sommersby (with Jodie Foster and Richard Gere ) or Heat as well as the TV series Malcolm in the middle . Until 2007, Regency held the worldwide broadcast rights for tournaments of the Association of Professional Tennis Players WTA .

useful information

The theme music for the Regency company logo opening credits came from the pen of film composer Danny Elfman from the film Sommersby and was used in many films from around the mid-1990s. The composition is still used today in newer productions such as 12 Years a Slave under the company name Regency Enterprises .
