Reviews
James Berardinelli compared the film on ReelViews negatively to the thriller In the Line of Fire . The tension is lower and the characters are poorly developed. Berardinelli praised the way in which George Nolfi and Clark Johnson adapted the novel by Gerald Petievich for the requirements of the film, as well as some scenes with Michael Douglas and Kiefer Sutherland.
Claudia Puig wrote in USA Today on April 20, 2006 that the film was "competently made" but not plausible. She praised the direction and camera work.
Desson Thomson described the film in the Washington Post as "medium-dumb"; it starts out promising, but then becomes increasingly stupid ("progressively sillier"). Thomson compared the film to "better" films about a Washington, DC intrigue like The Untouchables , In the Line of Fire, and No Way Out .
Kenneth Turan compared the April 21, 2006 thriller in the Los Angeles Times to B-films with a maximum of suspense and a minimum of aspiration. He praised the camera work and the editing.

Clark Johnson was nominated for the Black Reel Award in 2007.
