Alvin and the Chipmunks - Der Kinofilm (Original title: Alvin and the Chipmunks ) is a comedy film from 2007 by director Tim Hill , which combines real film with computer animation and is about the musical group Alvin and the Chipmunks .

action

The tree that the three chipmunks (Engl. Chipmunks) Alvin, Simon and Theodore inhabit is like and together with its inhabitants in the foyer of the record company Jett Records found. When the unsuccessful songwriter Dave Seville with his new song is rejected by the company manager Ian, who pretends to be his friend, he leaves the building disappointed and takes away a basket of muffins . After the Chipmunks hide in the basket, Dave takes them to his apartment. They go undetected until they wreak havoc there. Dave, who at first is anything but happy about it, quickly finds out that the three chipmunks can not only speak but also sing. At the introduction of the three singing rodents to Ian, however, the three of them cannot utter a sound because of stage fright. However, they want to make up for their mistake and sing on their own in Ian's private house, who immediately recognizes their potential and smells big money. The group quickly became successful, and Dave, too, was initially enthusiastic and, on the advice of Ian, even made individual clothing for the three Chipmunks.

But the fame begins to go to the head of Simon, Theodore and especially Alvin, and they become more and more naughty and spoiled. Dave makes it clear to them that they should either return to normal or move straight to "Uncle Ian". Mistakenly believing that Dave no longer wants her with them, they leave Dave. Ian gives them their own house right away, receives them with gifts and sets the rule that there are no more rules. But soon Ian begins to demand more and more of the trio out of greed for profit and takes their sleep with numerous appointments until they threaten to collapse. He and his stars are planning an international concert tour with concerts almost daily. Dave, in turn, becomes isolated from his favorites and begins to miss them. When the Chipmunks get hoarse before the start of their world tour, Ian lets their vocals be played back as a playback . That evening Dave managed to sneak into the concert. The Chipmunks notice him, tear off their costumes, ruin the performance and let the vertigo burst. But Ian is not finished yet: he catches them and wants to do big business with them at the next stop in France. The Chipmunks escape and in the end they make up with Dave, who is celebrating Christmas with them. At the end of the film, Ian is shown trying in vain to teach real chipmunks to sing.

Reviews

"A mixture of real and animated film, which is quite attractive in terms of animation, but only offers extremely simple-minded entertainment based on a long-mothballed television series."

“In 'Alvin and the Chipmunks' the basic mood is right, despite the simple temperament around the song squirrel Alvin, the story did not turn out to be hysterical or flat, but it is halfway understandable and even offers touching moments. [..] The animated small animals in the real world are children's stuff at first glance, but at second glance they are cute and surprisingly bearable. "

“Once the fluffy croissant trio turns their involuntary host's booth upside down and tries, with initially catastrophic consequences, to pair him up with his ex, you can even feel a touch of anarchic humor. Also amusing is the satirizing look at some of the business practices common in the music industry and the wild pop star life that the Chipmunks lead at times. Unfortunately, the joke is somewhat lost in the second half of the film, in which the plot, with all too predictable twists and turns, heads towards the formation of a cross-species blended family. "

“The story about the negative sides of the music business, which was tinkered around the croissants, solves the foreseeable conflicts in a child-friendly way up to the family fun finale with human dad, human mummy and three Schnuffihörnchen. [..] It's harmless, of course, but as long as they don't sing, it's kind of damn cute too. "

- Sascha Rettig - fluter

“Compatible with Christmas, the family stripe propagates the usual virtues: love of neighbor, children and rodents. Jumps in the plot, sentimentalities and, compared to the original, poor character expressions do not disturb. Heartwarming and charming. "
