action

For the sake of his heavily pregnant girlfriend Sherry, FBI agent Malcolm Turner stopped doing the dangerous work as an undercover agent and is now employed in public relations for the FBI. This includes that he appears in schools disguised as the mascot "Goldie the Security Eagle".

When he learns that his former partner Doug Hudson was killed in an operation the previous night, he wants to go back "to the front" and help with the investigation of the case. But since he is no longer an investigator, his supervisor refuses to work on the case - so he starts the investigation on his own.

The main suspect is Tom Fuller, who used to work in the US Army in military intelligence and is now head of software development at National Agenda Software. He is said to have developed a computer worm that can penetrate government computers and thus have access to all data and information. The murdered Hudson was an undercover agent on Fuller's technical team.

Malcolm learns that the FBI is planning to smuggle an agent into Fuller's family who is looking for a new nanny. At the interview he appears in his prime role as Big Mama and knocks the agent and other applicants out of the running and thus gets the job himself. He's hiding his investigation into the Fuller's home in Orange County from both his FBI colleagues and his wife . He tells his wife that he has to travel to a meeting of the mascots in Phoenix and that he is taking two weeks vacation with the FBI in order to allegedly take care of his pregnant wife. To maintain camouflage, he must complete Fuller's wife Leah's numerous chores and take care of the Fuller's three problem children: 3-year-old Andrew, 7-year-old Carrie, and 15-year-old Molly.

However, Sherry soon becomes suspicious and first suspects an affair with another woman. Together with the FBI, she then finds out what Malcolm is actually up to. Since the FBI sees no other way to get to Fuller, they now reluctantly work with Malcolm as Big Mama, who is now supposed to work closely with his colleague Kevin. They find out that the computer worm was programmed by a hacker named Bishop. The FBI agents Malcolm and Kevin are now supposed to work with the computer hacker Stewart Nybo, who turns out to be a small child.

In the meantime, it emerges that Fuller is being blackmailed by his business associates, who were also responsible for Doug's murder, and forced to have the computer worm programmed by Bishop - otherwise his family would be killed. To make Fuller compliant, they kidnap their daughter Molly - together with Big Mama. However, both manage to free themselves. While Molly calls the FBI, Big Mama takes up the fight against the criminals and can also save Fuller, who should be shot to avoid leaving witnesses. The FBI who then arrives can catch the blackmailer and secure the computer worm. Malcolm testifies that Fuller is innocent so he will not be charged.

With Fuller's consent, Malcolm still maintains his disguise as Big Mama to Fuller's family, as he still wants to say goodbye to the children. In a letter to the Fuller family, Big Mama notes that she may come back again. Malcolm continues his own family life with Sherry, their son Trent and their baby. For Sherry's sake, he eventually even replaced the beloved sports car with a family-friendly minivan.

Reviews

“Whether it's funny when Big Mama puts an ass bomb in the mud bath in the sauna, pours tequila into the dog's bowl or cleans the room with the leaf blower is of course a matter of taste. [...] Completely in contradiction to the film's mallet humor is its morally sour undertone, which repeatedly expresses itself in anxiously emotional scenes with kitschy dialogues. At first the family relationships of the Fullers are broken - a few clever sayings and dance lessons from Big Mama later everything is peace, joy, pancakes. [...] At the end there is an extremely kitschy voice-over from Turner, in which Turner rants about the importance of family cohesion - a fitting anti-climax to a humorous low-flying aircraft. "

"The film wants to satisfy needs, as we know them from the ordinary carnival: bang batches dressed as grotesquely as possible try to produce thigh knockers in the most stuffy way possible."

- Jörg Gerle in film-dienst 08/2006

“Bland disguise comedy. A tiring rather than entertaining continuation of a commercially successful slapstick concept. "
