David T. Friendly

David T. Friendly (born May 1, 1956 ) is an American film producer .

Life

After graduating from the Medill School of Journalism , a faculty at Northwestern University , David T. became a Friendly Journalist with Newsweek . In 1985 he moved to Los Angeles , where he wrote a weekly column for the Los Angeles Times on the economics of the film industry, until 1987 when Ron Howard and Brian Grazer , founders of Imagine Entertainment , hired him as vice president of feature films and films such as My Girl - My first love and a concierge to fall in love with . As president of the production division, he moved to Davis Entertainment in 1994 , where he produced films such as Daylight and Dr. Dolittle produced.

Together with Marc Turtletaub , he founded their own production company Deep River Productions in 2000 . After playing Here on Earth and Honeymooners , among others , it was the comedy film Little Miss Sunshine , with which Friendly, after more than six years of production, celebrated its greatest success in 2007. He was not only nominated for an Oscar in the category of best film , but also for the British Academy Film Award in the category of best film and was able to win the Independent Spirit Award .

Friendly is married to film editor Priscilla Nedd-Friendly . His brother Andy Friendly is also a film producer and their father was Fred W. Friendly , president of CBS News , who appeared in the drama Good Night, and Good Luck. was played by George Clooney .
