Nia Long
Nitara Carlynn "Nia" Long (born October 30, 1970 in Brooklyn , New York City ) is an American actress .
biography
Nia Long is the daughter of Talita and Doughtry "Doc" Long. Her parents divorced when she was just two years old. After the divorce, she and her mother moved to Iowa City , Iowa . Her mother studied fine arts there. When she was seven, they moved to south Los Angeles . Nia attended a Catholic school and received ballet, tap dance, jazz, guitar and acting training.
Her first notable roles were in Boyz n the Hood and Springfield Story , where she played for three years. She had guest appearances in the series The Prince of Bel-Air , Emergency Room , Moesha and Just in Case Amy . In Made in America , she plays Zora Mathews, the daughter of Sarah Mathews, played by Whoopi Goldberg , through a sperm donation .
She also played the role of Sasha Monroe in the television series Third Watch , where she is transferred to the 55 police station as an informer for the Internal Affairs Bureau .
