action
The Sunday meal, “soul food”, is a long 40-year tradition in the family of the young man Ahmad, whose grandmother at least ensures a certain harmony in the family at the table. Ahmad's mother Maxine usually has her quarrels with Ahmad's aunts Teri and Bird. The illness and death of his grandmother escalate the long smoldering conflicts between the sisters into a violent argument that threatens to break up the family. Ahmad remembers his grandmother's soul-food tradition and finally manages to reconcile the family with love and laughter at the table.
