action
Roxanne Shanté grew up in the Queensbridge social housing estate , a social hotspot in New York , in the early 1980s . At the age of 14, she proves in music projects that she is an energetic battle queen and a rap prodigy. Her recording of Roxanne's Revenge quickly became a hit, and the natural talent's reputation as a feared opponent made the rounds. The song started Shanté's career, and she not only became a hip-hop legend, but also the first popular female hip-hop artist. But Shanté also has a family to look after, and the dangers lurk all over the street in her poor neighborhood.
