Daniel Chitsulo (born March 7, 1983 in Zomba ) is a former Malawian football player . He was mostly used in the storm center and completed a total of 38 international matches for the Malawian national football team .

Career

society

In Malawi, the striker played for CIVO United and was twice the top scorer in the Malawi Premier Division .

In July 2000 Chitsulo moved to the youth team of 1. FC Köln , and in 2002 he was promoted to the second team. From coach Uwe Rapolder he was appointed to the squad of the Bundesliga team of Cologne for two matches in the 2005/06 season , but not used. The national player of his country was only used in the 2nd team in the regional league .

From July 1, 2006 to January 31, 2008 he played for VfL Osnabrück , with whom he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2007 as runner-up in the Regionalliga Nord .

For the second half of the 2007/08 season he moved to Rot Weiss Ahlen and rose again to the 2nd Bundesliga with this club in 2008. During the winter break of the 2009/10 season he then moved to Rot-Weiss Essen . After half a year Chitsulo left the club and joined Prussia Münster . With Preußen Münster he rose to the 3rd division in the 2010/11 season . During the 2011/12 season, Chitsulo was only used sporadically and did not receive a new contract in Münster for the 2012/13 season. He was then without a club for half a year.

In January 2013, after a trial training session with the regional league club SV Bergisch Gladbach 09 , he signed a contract. He received a contract until the end of the 2012/13 season. In September 2013 he moved to SG Köln-Worringen .

National team

Chitsulo was a national player for the Malawian national team from 1999 to 2005 and was not considered for the 2010 African Cup of Nations.

Others

On September 12, 2008, the only 169 cm tall center forward hit a header after being substituted in the away game against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen to make it 2-1 for Ahlen. This makes Chitsulo the first Malawian player to ever score in a European professional league.
