The SG Köln-Worringen is a German sports club from the Worringen district of Cologne , which has 14 departments, including badminton , basketball , football , judo , athletics , cycling , swimming , tennis , table tennis and volleyball .
history
The sports club was formed in 1971 from the merger of four clubs gymnastics and sports club Worringen 1894 eV , Ballspielverein Worringen 1927 eV , Radsportclub final sprint Worringen 1960 eV and German youth strength Worringen 1966 eV was the main sponsor of the club for many years the Cologne-based Worringen segment of BP -Group, which was also reflected in the club name. Until 2002 they played as (Erdölchemie) EC / Bayer Köln-Worringen and then as BP Köln-Worringen .
The first men's soccer team operated for years at the district league level, which was reached in 1993. After the club failed at SC West Cologne in 1998 and at PSI Yurdumspor Cologne in 1999 , they were promoted to the Middle Rhine regional league in 2000 together with FC Junkersdorf . In the 2002/03 season the club withdrew its team from the regional league, but two years later they celebrated the renewed regional league championship and the return to the regional league. After midfield placements in the following three years, the club announced its team in 2008/09 after the withdrawal of the main sponsor BP again from the national league. Only a year later, the SG Köln-Worringen returned as district league champions. In the 2011/12 season, the team celebrated the first national league championship and thus promotion to the fifth-class Mittelrheinliga for the 2012/13 season . After one year of membership in this league, they rose immediately from bottom of the table. Four years later, the club withdrew the team from the current state league season and made it back to the state league in 2019.
