Eberhard Müller-Elmau (born October 9, 1905 in Mainberg , Lower Franconia, † April 13, 1995 in Göttingen ) was a German actor and director.

Life

He was born the son of the philosopher and founder of Schloss Elmau Johannes Müller and his third wife, the sculptor and painter Irene Sattler. After graduating from high school in Munich in 1924, he studied medicine until his first exam in Munich before turning to the theater. He received his acting training in 1929/31 at the Drama School of the German Theater / Max Reinhardt School in Berlin. He married the opera singer Gerda Kuntzsch (born February 3, 1909 in Dresden, † October 26, 2008 in Munich). The marriage produced four children, including the actors Raidar and Markwart . Four grandchildren are also at the theater: Katharina Müller-Elmau , Alexander Müller-Elmau , Carolin Conrad and Diana Müller-Elmau. After engagements in Osnabrück (1926), Munich, Prague (1931), Bremen (1932), Gera (1933–35), Braunschweig (1935–37), Dortmund (1938–42) and Mainz (1946–53) he was brought in by the Intendant of the German Theater Heinz Hilpert in 1953 as director, senior stage manager and actor in Göttingen . He remained his closest colleague until Hilpert left the company in 1966. From 1966 he took on the same tasks under the artistic directors Günther Fleckenstein , from 1986 Heinz Engels .
