Karl Walter Diess

Karl Walter Diess (born January 25, 1928 in Salzburg ; † March 30, 2014 in Frankfurt am Main ) was an Austrian actor and voice actor .

biography

Karl Walter Diess completed an acting training at the Salzburg Mozarteum after graduating from high school . After playing for seven years at the Deutsches Theater in Göttingen under the direction of Heinz Hilperts , he was engaged by the Residenztheater in Munich , where he was part of the ensemble for eleven years. Numerous tours and guest performances have taken him to the well-known venues in German-speaking countries. His appearances at the Münchner Kammerspiele and the Bad Hersfeld Festival will not be forgotten .

Diess became known to a large audience in many television roles. So he celebrated his first big success in 1955 in the film Bandits of the Autobahn . He subsequently worked in numerous other films and television productions. Until recently he was regularly seen in crime series such as Der Alte , Tatort , Derrick or Der Kommissar .

Karl Walter Diess achieved greater popularity with the role of Dr. Schäfer in the successful series Die Schwarzwaldklinik , through appearances in series such as The Dream Ship and On the Move or in film adaptations of Rosamunde Pilcher novels.

Diess was also a well known voice actor; he lent his voice to Roger Moore and Christopher Plummer, among others . He was also involved in many radio play productions, including several roles in the youth crime series Die Drei ??? and TKKG as well as Man-At-Arms in Masters of the Universe .

Diess, the u. a. was married to the actress Miriam Spoerri , with whom he has a daughter, died in March 2014 at the age of 86 years of complications from severe pneumonia .
