Dodie Smith

Dorothy Gladys "Dodie" Smith (born May 3, 1896 in Whitefield , England ; † November 24, 1990 ) in Uttlesford , England was an English writer and screenwriter .

Live and act

Although Dodie Smith published works much earlier, Schoolgirl Rebels (1915) under the pseudonym "Charles Henry Percy", Autumn Crocus (1931) under the pseudonym "CL Anthony" or I Capture the Castle (1948), it was not until 1956 written book The Hundred and One Dalmatians, or the Great Dog Robbery (German: Hundertundein Dalmatiner ) as a result of the Disney film Pongo and Perdita (English: One Hundred and One Dalmatians ) 1961 famous.

In 1939 Smith emigrated to America, where he married the English actor Alec Beesley that same year. Beesley was the son of Lawrence Beesley (1877-1967), who survived the sinking of the Titanic in 1912 and published his book The Loss of the SS Titanic ( tragedy of the Titanic ) that same year .
