Raidar Müller-Elmau (born December 3, 1933 in Gera ; † February 14, 2003 in Munich ; also Raidar Müller or Reidar Müller ) was a German actor .

Live and act

Raidar Müller-Elmau came from a theater dynasty; he was the son of the well-known theater actor Eberhard Müller-Elmau and the opera singer Gerda Kuntzsch. His younger brother Markwart is still active as a theater actor and director today. Daughter Katharina also took up the acting profession, while his older son Alexander worked as a set designer, author and director and his younger son Simon appeared as a film producer. His niece Natalie Müller-Elmau is 3sat coordinator on ZDF .

Raidar Müller-Elmau made his debut at the Stadttheater in Mainz in 1951 . From 1953 to 1957 he was a member of the ensemble of the Landestheater in Darmstadt and from 1957 to 1958 he had an engagement with the municipal theaters in Münster.

In addition to his stage work, he also repeatedly accepted film offers. After he had already appeared in the Heimatfilm Hubertus Castle in 1954 , the dark-haired actor became quite popular with the two Immenhof productions Hochzeit auf Immenhof (1956) and Ferien auf Immenhof (1957) alongside Heidi Brühl and Angelika Meissner . This was followed by appearances in films such as court martial by Kurt Meisel and Kirmes by Wolfgang Staudte . At first he appeared as "Raidar Müller"; only later did he use the double name Müller-Elmau. The second part of the name goes back to Schloss Elmau , which his grandfather Johannes Müller had built in 1916 and after which his descendants usually named themselves.

In the course of time, Müller-Elmau concentrated again on his theater career. He was in permanent engagement in Heidelberg, Göttingen, Braunschweig, from 1980 to 1988 at the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf and then (until 1994) at the Bavarian State Theater, after which he worked freelance at the theater and for television. As early as 1959 he made his television film debut in Die gute Sieben . There were other roles in crime series such as SOKO 5113 , Ein Fall für Zwei and in the daily soap Marienhof . However, Müller-Elmau was never one of the big TV stars. After a long abstinence from the cinema, he was only seen again in a feature film ( Small Sharks ) in 1992 . It was to be his last screen appearance.

Raidar Müller-Elmau, who also worked as an acting teacher, died of cancer in 2003 at the age of 69.
