action

Franziska Bachmaier is waiting in front of the church for her groom Ludwig. Her aunt Magda makes no secret of the fact that she is against this marriage. When Ludwig does not appear, they are looking for him. Franziska finds him dead in the guest room of her father's brewery . He was poisoned by car exhaust that was piped into the room from a running car. It all looks like suicide . Franziska Bachmaier's brother Gustl is convinced that the brewing boy Ludwig was overwhelmed with the future management and renovation of the ailing “ Tölzer Brauhaus ” and therefore killed himself. Tobias Kuppenbauer, on the other hand, categorically rules out suicide because his friend Ludwig recently secretly passed his master brewer examination and forged concrete restructuring plans for the brewery. Against this background, the commissioners Benno Berghammer and Sabrina Lorenz no longer believe in suicide and try to find out who will benefit most from Ludwig's death.

Mr. Dollinger from the Berlin brewery "Katzenbräu" makes Franziska Bachmaier an offer to buy the "Tölzer Brauhaus", but she is not interested; she wants to take over the brewery and renovate it. At the bank , she also negotiates a loan approval.

Gustl Bachmaier drives a sports car that belongs to the "Katzenbräu"; he is responsible for sales for the company in Ibiza . He previously managed his parents' brewery, but his father withdrew this function from him because he wanted to sell the business to "Katzenbräu".

Mayor Franz Wegener, whose construction company is to build a distribution warehouse for the “Katzenbräu”, has discovered the “Tölzer Brauhaus” as the ideal location, because according to the 300-year-old founding deed, the property would revert to the monastery if it was closed. And since the monastery urgently needs money, Wegener makes the prelate Hinter a generous offer to get the property. He also sends the trade supervisory authority to the brewery and warns the bank employees about the Bachmaier family, who in view of the competition are unlikely to be able to repay the loan - with success: the bank withdraws the loan approval. The hops are also not being delivered because Mr Dollinger is telling people that the brewery is bankrupt.

When the commissioners find out that Magda Bachmaier drinks a beer at the “Klosterbräu” at the same time every evening and then takes her dog on a tour of the brewery, it is clear to them that they would like to switch from the inn to the beer from the “Katzenbräu “Must have known. They also must have noticed that the influence of alcohol after Ludwig Polterabend Tobias hill farmer and brewmaster Sepp was brought home. When asked about this, she initially denies everything, but then, under the increasing pressure of the investigators, admits to having arranged the sale of the brewery to the "Katzenbräu" herself. Ludwig stood in the way.

The “Tölzer Brauhaus” is just about to close its doors when the inspectors arrive. They have a rescue plan in their luggage: the church is supposed to transfer the monastery grounds to the bank as security for the brewery's loans; In return, the church is to be involved in the brewery.
