Meng Ao

Meng Ao (died around 240 BC) was a Chinese dignitary and general. He served the kings of Qin .

Life

Although he originally came from the Qi kingdom , Meng Ao moved to Qin to offer himself to the ruling king Zhaoxiang as a follower. Soon he gained the title of minister.

After he died around 250/249 BC Having been appointed general, he carried out several campaigns for the Kingdom of Qin. He took the cities of Chenggao and Xingyang, establishing the Sanchuan Province . According to tradition, it led to around 240 BC. Armies against the empires Han , Zhao and Wei and conquered a total of 70 cities. A little later he died.

Meng Ao was the father of Meng Wu , who also became a senior officer, and the grandfather of the two brothers Meng Tian and Meng Yi , who were dignitaries under the first Emperor Qin Shihuangdi .
