Julian Looman

Julian Looman (born March 5, 1985 in Vienna ) is a Dutch - Austrian actor .

Life

Julian Looman, the son of a Dutchman and an Austrian, grew up in his native city of Vienna, where he graduated from the De La Salle Gymnasium in Vienna-Strebersdorf . From 2005 to 2009 he studied acting, singing and dance at the Conservatory of the City of Vienna Private University (with a focus on “musical entertainment theater ”). There he finished his training in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree . This was followed by his first engagements at the Simpl cabaret in Vienna and at the summer theater at Rosenburg Castle in Lower Austria , where he played Demetrius in the Shakespeare comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream , directed by Birgit Doll .

Looman then played his first roles in Germany and Austria in 2010, as Ethan Girard in the musical The Full Monty at the Amstetten musical summer and at the Deutsches Theater in Munich . Other roles followed, including a. 2010 as Rapunzels Prinz / Wolf at the Staatstheater Kassel in Into the Woods . In the successful Dutch musical Soldaat van Oranje , which depicts the life of the resistance fighter Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema , he played the leading role in the Netherlands (in De Theaterhangaar bij Leiden) from 2011–2012.

In October 2013 he appeared as Viscount Raoul de Chagny in Love never dies in a production by the United Bühnen Wien at the Ronacher . 2013–2014 he played Sir Harry in the children's play Winnifred by Mary Rodgers and Marshall Barer at the Theater der Jugend in Vienna .

He appeared several times at the Freilichtspiele Tecklenburg , for the first time in 2013 as Hombre in the musical Der Schuh des Manitu . In 2014 he then played the Pharaoh in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Joe Gillis in Sunset Boulevard in Tecklenburg . In the 2014/15 season he was guest at the Grenzlandtheater Aachen as conférencier in Cabaret . For his performance, he received the Great Aachen Theater Prize ( Kurt Sieder Prize ) as “Best Actor 2015” and the Aachen Audience Award ( Karl Heinz Walther Prize ) as “Best Young Actor”. In 2015 he played Wronsky in a stage version by Anna Karenina at the St. Gallen Theater (director: Ulrich Wiggers ). In the 2016/17 season he was a guest at the Salzburg State Theater as Sir Galahed in the musical Monty Python's Spamalot . From July to September 2017 he took on the role of Baron von Gaigern in the musical Grand Hotel at the Stadttheater Baden .

Looman also worked for cinema, film, and television. He had episode roles in various TV series, including in the German-Austrian-Swiss co-production Der Winzerkönig (2009) and in the Austrian TV series CopStories . In the Dutch TV film Beatrix, Oranje onder vuur (2012) about the life of Queen Beatrix , he played the German Prince Richard zu Sayn-Wittgenstein . In October 2016, Looman's first international movie Prooi by Dick Maas , in which he played the male lead, premiered in Amsterdam . Looman played SS General Schöngarth in the TV miniseries De Zaak Menten , which was awarded the “Gouden Kalf” award for “Best TV Drama 2017” in 2017 .

In the ZDF television series Marie catches fire , which has been broadcast since November 2016, Looman has played since III. Part (November 2017) in the role of Philipp Senger the ex-boyfriend of the female main character Marie ( Christine Eixenberger ). In April 2018 Looman was seen in an episode role in the Austrian crime series SOKO Kitzbühel ; he was Axel Kronlachner, a former star player of a wheelchair - basketball team , who had to give up his career for drug smuggling. In the television film When It's About Love , which premiered on Das Erste in June 2019 , Looman played one of the leading roles, the pop singer Sunny. In the 10th season of the ZDF crime series Die Chefin (2019), Looman took on an episode role as a violent suspect with a previous conviction for grievous bodily harm . In the British- German crime series The Mallorca Files , which has been broadcast since November 2019, Looman plays the male lead, the German investigator Max Winter.

Looman, who lives in Vienna and Amsterdam , is in a relationship with the Dutch musical artist Annemieke van Dam . The couple have one son.
