Karl-Heinz Walther (born January 22, 1929 in Darmstadt ; † October 4, 1995 ) was a German actor , director and theater manager .

Live and act

As a young student of acting at the Heidelberg University of Music and Theater , Walther founded the Heidelberger Zimmertheater in 1950 together with Jochen Ballin, Claire Hahn, Helga Schmidle and Brigitte Zepf . It became known beyond the borders of Heidelberg above all for its premieres and world premieres.

Walther stayed at the Zimmertheater until 1960 and at the same time took on individual roles at the Heidelberg City Theaters . He then first appeared as a guest actor at the Städtische Bühnen Wuppertal and the Kammerspiele Düsseldorf , before receiving a contract as an actor at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg from 1961 to 1964 . Finally, after Kurt Sieder's death in 1964 , Walther took over the Grenzlandtheater Aachen , which he had founded , where he worked as an actor, director and artistic director until 1994 and died a year later, presumably in Aachen.

Outside of his theater engagements, Karl-Heinz Walther also took on a number of film roles for television . Among other things, he was seen in four episodes of the crime scene as well as several comedies and series productions .

His main engagement, however, was directing the Karl May Festival as part of the Elspe Festival , where he realized Jochen Bludau's textbooks from 1973 to 1994 , often with Pierre Brice in the role of Winnetou . Only once, in 1993 at the premiere of Winnetou Part 1 , did he himself take on an acting role in Elspe with the role of Intschu-tschunas . Walther also accompanied the Elsper Ensemble on international guest appearances, where he directed, among other things, in 1978 and 1979 in the Wiener Stadthalle . When Pierre Brice was looking for an accomplished director for his own Karl May productions in the Wiener Stadthalle in 1980 and 1983, he called the experienced Walther back to Vienna.
