Lemmi and the books
Lemmi und die Schmöker was a children's series in which books were presented from 1973 to 1979 and in the second series in 1983. The series was produced by WDR on behalf of ARD . The scriptwriter and director of the episodes was Peter Podehl , who later was also the scriptwriter and director of the series Hallo Spencer .
actor
- The hand puppet Lemmi, the bookworm (was completely called Herr Balduin Percy Hannibal Lehmann ), played and spoken by Gerhard Mensching
- Hannes Kaetner , caretaker Mr. Willibald
- Uta Maria Schütze , Miss Silvia Librarian
- Barbara Capell , Miss Sabine
Shipment process
Usually only one book with exciting film excerpts was presented per broadcast. In these film excerpts, some parts of the book were staged as short scenes with actors, so they were intended to use television to encourage the children to read the entire book.
There was a telelift system in the studio (library). The telelift system is a rail conveyor system and is similar to a pneumatic tube system . In the car there were magic cloths that were held by the caretaker and into which films were faded in using blue screen technology . The actors chatted with scaled-down protagonists from the film who came out of a book or the scarves. In 1983 there was a so-called "extraction machine" instead of cloths.
Versions of the hand puppet
There were two different versions of Lemmi. First there was the light brown knitted sock with black hair and glasses, invented by Friedrich Arndt and knitted by his wife Anni.
In 1983 Lemmi was made of foam and was bald .
