To be continued - Adventure Reading was a German-language literary program for children and young people. It was broadcast on Austrian television (ORF) from 1982 to 1994 .
The broadcast
In the program, children's and young people's books were presented with the help of short film clips. The film broke off at an exciting point - the sequel did not follow on television, but in the book. The show's moderators included Edgar Böhm , Jörg Ruminak and Thomas Brezina . The broadcast was an ORF production by the F5 Society, Youth and Family department. Later she was u. a. Coproduced with ZDF , Bavarian Radio and Swiss Television . The ORF also received financial support from the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education and Cultural Affairs (BMUK).
The books presented in the program were limited in their origin to the German-speaking area. Mainly new publications by Austrian authors of books for children and young people were used. The books presented dealt among other things. a. with the topics of environmental protection (nuclear power, garbage problem), friendship, family, drugs, the world of work or integration. Part of the show was also a competition. Answers to the competition question could be sent by postcard. The books presented in the program could be won.
Use in class
The broadcast was co-financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education and the Arts. From 1990 media packages for teaching in Austrian schools were published there. The media packages consisted of a VHS cassette with collected video material from the program and a booklet with work proposals for use in the classroom. The media packages were designed both for foreign language teaching (German as a foreign language) and for interdisciplinary teaching.
