Lennart Hellsing (born June 5, 1919 in Fagersta , Västmanland province , † November 25, 2015 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish writer and translator .

Life

Hellsing's books, the texts of which are mostly rhyming, have been popular in Sweden for several generations and his characters are well known. Even in the last decades of the 20th century he remained known because many of his rhymes were reproduced in school reading books for the first years of school. Hellsing has been a member of the Swedish Children's Book Academy for the past few years.

Since 1953 he was married to the Swedish actress Yvonne Lombard .

Works

Lennart Hellsing's first children's book was published in 1945 under the title Katten blåser i silverhorn (German: The cat blows the silver horn ). His books have been illustrated by Stig Lindberg , Poul Ströyer and Ulrica Hydman-Vallien , among others . Among other things, Hellsing's outstanding translation of Wilhelm Busch's Max und Moritz is worth mentioning.
