Some vases typical of Ulrica Hydman-Valliens

Ulrica Hydman-Vallien was an all-round artist, but her work in glass, watercolor and textile with the typical tulips, wolves and twisted snakes in intense colors and strong brushstrokes became best known . It wasn't until 1972 that she had her breakthrough as a glass artist. As a protest against the conservative industry, she created the "rat bowl " Råttskålen , which was supposed to fit as an exclusive gift, but she decorated the bowl with large, black rats. The management immediately rejected the product. The rat bowl never came into production. However, this did not prevent Ulrica Hydman-Vallien from continuing with her idiosyncratic ideas, and with great success.

She was one of the fifty selected artists worldwide who artistically adorned the British Airways air fleet . This included everything from the tail fins to the napkins, tickets and the airline's stationery.
