Mai Duong Kieu (born February 1987 in Bắc Ninh , Vietnam ) is a German - Vietnamese actress .

Life

Duong Kieu was born in 1987 in the provincial capital Bắc Ninh, 30 km northeast of Hanoi . In 1992 she moved with her mother to Chemnitz in Saxony , where her father, a master of Shaolin Kung Fu , already lived . Kieu learned martial arts from early childhood.

She was discovered by an acting agency via Myspace . The first steps into theater play followed, including in 2000 in an adaptation of Goethe's Faust . From 2005 to 2007 she studied drama at the Volkshochschule in Leipzig , from 2009 to 2011 drama at the Leipzig Theater Fabrik . In 2012 she took drama lessons at Franck Fuhrer's La Compagnie des Enfants du Spectacle in Nice .

In 2014 she was part of the main cast of the reality show The Quest on US broadcaster ABC . In the same year she starred in an episode of the series Binny and the Ghost . This was followed by a supporting role in the drama We are young. We are strong. , in addition, she was seen in various series and television films in the same year. In 2015 she played her first TV lead role in the film My Father-in-Law, The Stinky Boot .

Mai Duong Kieu played a leading role under director Christian Schwochow in the internationally produced ZDF series Bad Banks , which premiered at the 2018 Berlinale .
