action

The young mother Marla Westphal suddenly collapses. She is admitted to the hospital, where her father, the ex- Bundeswehr soldier Harald Westphal, does not leave her side and competes with Marla's partner Isko, a Finnish musician, for her care. Discharged from the hospital without a final diagnosis at Harald's urging, Marla collapses again, this time with kidney failure. In the hospital again, Marla begins to grapple with her possible death and distances herself from her partner and daughter, initially indignantly rejecting Isko's marriage proposal. At the same time, she gets closer to the young resident doctor Mike, who is the only one who recognizes the right approaches to diagnosing Marla's disease. Marla's younger sister Tina turns to the gothic scene to deal with the illness and possible death of her second oldest sister . In the end, Harald realizes that his late ex-wife, Marla's mother, suffered from an inherited disease. With this knowledge and the help of the now dismissed assistant doctor Mike, it is possible to correctly diagnose and treat Marla's disease. She marries Isko and returns to her family.

criticism

"Undemanding, over-the-top mix of (television) drama and comedy, in which Hannes Jaenicke once again sets the scene as Harald Westphal in the military."
