Bắc Ninh ( Hán tự : 北 寧, IPA : ɓɐk 35 niɲ 33 ) is a city in northern Vietnam . It is the capital of the province of Bắc Ninh and is located 30 km northeast of the state capital Hanoi .
history
From March 6 to 24, 1884, the city was the site of the Battle of Bắc Ninh . During their Tonkin campaign from 1883 to 1886, the French under General Charles-Théodore Millot fought a decisive battle there against Chinese armies from Guangxi and Yunnan , Vietnamese forces and the black flag partisans (Pavillons noirs) of Liu Yongfu ( Lưu Vĩnh Phúc ).
On June 1, 1883, the Vicariate Apostolic North Tonking was founded, which became part of the Vicariate Apostolic Yunnan on November 3, 1924 under the name of Apostolic Vicariate Bắc Ninh . With the Apostolic Constitution Venerabilium Nostrorum it became the diocese of Bắc Ninh on November 24, 1960 .

In January 2006, the status of Bắc Ninhs was expanded from that of a city ( thị xã ) to that of a large city ( thành phố ) with status number 3. The tp. (Thành phố) Bắc Ninh is divided into 13 urban districts ( phường ) and 6 rural districts ( xã ). The boroughs are Đáp Cầu, Thị Cầu, Vũ Ninh, Suối Hoa, Ninh Xá, Tiền An, Vệ An, Vạn An, Kinh Bắc, Đại Phúc, Võ Cường, Vân Dương, and Hạp Lĩnh. The rural districts: Hòa Long, Phong Khê, Khúc Xuyên, Kim Chân, Nam Sơn and Khắc Niệm.
Infrastructure and economy
Bắc Ninh is located on the national road 1A ( Vietnamese Quốc lộ 1A , abbreviation QL1A / AH1) and is connected by this to the southern region of the Hanoi metropolitan area. The national road 18 (QL18) creates the connection to the northern region of Hanoi via the 4-lane section Nội Bài-Bắc Ninh expressway . The distance to the Nội Bài International Airport is approx. 30 km. To the southeast, in the direction of the port city of Hải Phong , 100 km away , there is a well-developed country road.
The Cái Lân pier of the Hòn Gai port in the province of Quảng Ninh , which is 120 km south-east and is to be expanded into a deep-water port for ships up to 50,000 DWT by 2015 , can be reached via the nearby express railway line Yên Viên-Cái Lân and over the QL18 reachable. The Sông Cầu is important as a waterway, flowing northeast of the city towards the Sông Thái Bình and Hải Phong. Bắc Ninh is on the Hanoi - Đồng Đăng railway line ( Lạng Sơn province ), which is still operated in the 1.435 m gauge .
The most important clinics are the Bệnh viện Đa khoa tỉnh Bắc Ninh Central Hospital , the Kinh Bắc Hospital ( Bệnh viện Đa khoa Kinh Bắc ), the Military Hospital 110 ( Bệnh viện Quân Y 110 ) and the Traditional Medicine Hospital Bệnh viện Y học cổ truyền and the Center for Preventive Medicine Trung tâm Y tế dự phòng thành phố Bắc Ninh . The Bảo tàng Bắc Ninh museum is located on Lý Thái Tổ . At the end of this boulevard, the cultural and economic center Kinh B Wirtschaftsc ( Trung tâm văn hóa Kinh Bắc ) was completed in 2008 . The Trung tâm hội nghị tỉnh Bắc Ninh is planned as the conference center .
The large number of existing training institutes include the Bac Ninh campus of the VBA Banking Academy of Vietnam ( Học viện Ngân hàng ), the Kinh Bac International School , the Military Academy of Politics ( Học viện Chính trị Quân sự ), the Cao đẳng College of Statistics Thống kê Trung ương and a teacher training college ( Cao đẳng sư phạm Bắc Ninh ). Football matches are played in the Sân vận động Suối hoa spring flower stadium. During the construction of the Nhà thi đấu Bắc Ninh Stadium in 2005, a roof collapsed and several workers were seriously injured.
The more than 20 industrial zones in the province are coordinated by the Bac Ninh Industrial Zones Authority in Ly Thai To No. 10. In the urban area are the Đại Kim Industrial Zone , the Đại Đồng - Hoàn Sơn Industrial Zone , the Nam Sơn - Hạp Lĩnh Industrial Zone and the Võ Cường Industrial Cluster . In 2009, with the support and funding of the Wastewater Management Project of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the development bank of the Reconstruction Loan Corporation (KfW) and DED and GTZ (now merged to form the German Society for International Cooperation - GIZ) Sewage treatment plant completed. Further funding for the expansion of the sewer system and the construction of a waste dump are in prospect.
Culture and sights
In the district of Kinh B Stadtc you can visit the citadel Bắc Ninh ( Thành cổ Bắc Ninh ), which was built at the beginning of the 19th century, influenced by the military architecture of the French, to protect the capital Thăng Long . The Cathedral Queen of the Rosary of the Diocese of Bắc Ninh, Nhà Thờ Chính Tòa Bắc Ninh , was built from 1892.
The Nguyên Phi Ỷ Lan Park ( Công viên Nguyên Phi Ỷ Lan ) commemorates the concubine of Lý Thánh Tông and mother of Lý Nhân Tông , Nguyên Phi Ỷ Lan (also Lê Thị Yến , 1044–1117). In the Lý Thái Tổ there is a statue for the emperor of the same name ( Tượng đài Lý Thái Tổ ).
On the 13th day of the lunar calendar , the annual festival is celebrated in the village of Cô Mễ, Vũ Ninh district, in the temple of Đền Bà Chúa Kho , which serves as a place of worship for Bà Chúa Kho . The invocation of this lady of the treasury is said to lead to financial wealth.
