The national road 1A ( Vietnamese : Quốc lộ 1A , abbreviated QL1A , or Đường 1 ) is the north- south Vietnamese trunk road. It begins in the north at km 0 at the border crossing Huu Nghi Quan ( cửa khẩu Hữu Nghị Quan ) on the border with China and ends at km 2301 at the village of Nam Can in the Ngoc Hien district of the Cà Mau province . The QL1A is part of the Asian Highway 1 in the Asian Highway Project .

history

The construction of National Road 1 was started by the French colonial power in the early 20th century. It has recently been expanded with Japanese ODA and World Bank loans .

During the Indochina War and the Vietnam War , the street was highly competitive.
