Cà Mau is the southernmost province ( tỉnh ) of Vietnam . It belongs to the Mekong Delta region . Cà Mau represents the southern tip of the country where the Gulf of Thailand and the South China Sea merge. At the southernmost point of the mainland there is a monument that is a popular tourist destination. Nearby is the Mũi Cà Mau National Park .
The province is bordered by Kiên Giang in the northwest and Bạc Liêu in the northeast .
In 1997, large parts of Cà Mau were destroyed by tropical storm Linda .

Cà Mau is divided into nine districts:
- 8 districts ( huyện ): Cái Nước, Đầm Dơi, Năm Căn, Ngọc Hiển, Phú Tân, Trần Văn Thời, Thới Bình and U Minh
