Nam Bộ

The southern part of Vietnam is referred to as Nam Bộ or miền Nam . The region was until 1945 as Cochinchina one of the member states of the Indochinese Union .

The entire southern part of the country is very flat. In the west it borders on the Gulf of Thailand , in the south and east on the South China Sea, in the northwest on Cambodia and in the northeast on the Nam Trung Bộ region .
