Nam Bộ
The southern part of Vietnam is referred to as Nam Bộ or miền Nam . The region was until 1945 as Cochinchina one of the member states of the Indochinese Union .

The entire southern part of the country is very flat. In the west it borders on the Gulf of Thailand , in the south and east on the South China Sea, in the northwest on Cambodia and in the northeast on the Nam Trung Bộ region .
Subdivision
- Đông Nam Bộ ( southeast ): 6 provinces: Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh , Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu , Bình Dương , Bình Phước , Đồng Nai , Tây Ninh
- Tây Nam Bộ ( Southwest ): 13 provinces: Cần Thơ , An Giang , Bạc Liêu , Bến Tre , Long An , Cà Mau , Sóc Trăng , Hậu Giang , Trà Vinh , Đồng Tháp , Vĩnh Long , Kiên Giang , Tiền Giang
