action

Iris Wiedemann knows that her husband Jörg is cheating. She no longer wants to accept his infidelity and, after 20 years of marriage, thinks about divorce. But an inheritance stands in the way, because Jörg's recently deceased aunt decreed in her will that her fortune will only go to both of the Wiedemanns if they can show that their family lives were intact. Should one partner file for divorce, inheritance would automatically go to the other. Since she does not allow Jörg the money, she wants to drive him to file for divorce with her charm and intrigue. But Jörg is not in such a hurry to move out, because he fell out with his girlfriend because she attacked him with her wish for a baby when he told her that he would soon be separating from his wife. Iris immediately talks to Jörg's new flame and wants to give her the right tips so that he can move in with her as quickly as possible. But even Jasmin is upset and doesn't want him anymore.

Since Jörg does not move out voluntarily, Iris takes some drastic measures. First, she adjusts his watch so that he is late for a meeting, removes gasoline from his motorcycle, and blocks his credit card so that he cannot refuel. At the bank he learns that Iris has canceled their joint account and his boss thinks he is so disorganized that he questions their partnership.

After Jörg finds out what plan Iris is pursuing, he wants to hold on to his marriage at all costs. A real war of roses begins. Next, Iris disguises his color connoisseur, with whose help the color-blind husband assembles his clothes every day. So he comes to the next meeting dressed in a ridiculously unsuitable and colorful way. In revenge, he drives the lawn tractor over the beautiful flowerbed in the garden that Iris was so proud of. Iris in turn puts Jörg's motorcycle up for sale online, whereupon he deletes her company website. But Jörg's job is not exactly looking up either, because his boss does not extend his contract because of his disorganization.

At home, Iris and Jörg's children are fed up with their parents' constant arguments. They flee to their grandparents and demand that normal conditions finally return. Iris has an understanding and submits her application for divorce. At the same time, Jörg also wants his children to stop suffering and sends a request for divorce on the trip. Then he packs his things and wants to move out. Since they are now both seeking a divorce, the inheritance would go to the Animal Welfare Association. Of course, they don't want that either and are trying desperately to get their applications back from the court. Because one does not want to give them to them, they are violently and subsequently imprisoned. Together in one cell they have time and leisure to talk about everything and also to remember the good times of their marriage. Instead of blaming each other, they approach each other. Their divorce fell through and they are holding onto their marriage. With the prospect of the inheritance, it is even easier for them.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv said: “A war of the roses in a good Cologne way - presented as a perfectly oiled comedy machine. The author always comes up with a clever twist and dispenses with false romanticism. In “Divorce for Advanced” the narrative qualities of a good 90-minute comedy film and the technical advantages of a well-structured comedy are combined. Strong verbal battles, gag-rich montages, great soundtrack. "

For Kino.de , Tilmann P. Gangloff assessed : "The story [offers] great opportunities for nuanced interaction" of the actors. "The repeatedly surprising dramaturgy, the refreshingly malicious dialogues, plus a few happy swipes at Cologne, church and carnival, and finally overdrawn minor characters such as a couple of parents who turn out to be real empathy monsters: a remarkable, extremely entertaining comedy."

Prima.de judged: “Director Josh Broeker tailored this richly constructed and predictable fun to his main actor duo Mariele Millowitsch and Walter Sittler. However, the two do not appear to be in as good a mood as in their joint successful series' girl friends ?? Friendship with heart 'and' Nikola '. "

TV Spielfilm gave the film the best possible rating (thumbs up), it was somewhat constructed, but the leading actor duo brought in from 'Nikola' tears it out.
