North at Northwest - Waidmannsheil is a German TV movie of Felix Herzogenrath from the year 2018. It is the sixth episode of the ARD - Police drama series North at Northwest with Hinnerk Schönemann and Henny Reents in the lead roles.

action

During a walk on the beach by Hauke Jacobs and Jule Christiansen, farmer Benedikt aims at Hauke Jacobs' dog Holly from a high seat on the edge of the forest, but is shot himself by an unknown person and seriously injured. Hauke immediately provides first aid. Benedict is put into an artificial coma in the hospital, so that questioning is not possible for the time being.

Lona Vogt, who starts the investigation, and Hauke drive to the courtyard to deliver the news to the three children living there (one son, two daughters). Lukas, the oldest child, is very aggressive towards Hauke. Since the mother is no longer alive, he is now the guardian and feels responsible for the underage siblings Sara and Ruth. Achim Möller, who introduces himself as a friend of the family, offers his support. Since Lukas works during the day and Sara goes to school, Hauke suggests that Ruth temporarily live with Jule and do an internship in the veterinary practice; Luke agrees with this.

The interviews in the village show that no one liked the farmer. He and Möller know each other because they are both hunters, as does Benedikt's son Lukas.

Lona Vogt fears another attempted murder and persuades Mehmet Ösker to play the decoy for farmer Benedikt in the hospital by staying in his bed with a face bandage while Benedict is moved to another room.

Since there is an old family feud between the Benedicts and the Jensens, Lona also asks farmer Jensen and his eldest son Lars about their alibis; they pretend to have been fishing. Möller, who works at the building authority, is also questioned, but cannot provide any information about a possible perpetrator.

That night Sara Benedikt and Jensen's younger son Kai meet. It turns out that they have a love affair that they have so far kept a secret because of the old family feud. Meanwhile, Jule and Hauke learn from Ruth that Sara is pregnant. They suspect that farmer Benedict abused his daughter. Lona and Hauke learn from Sara that Kai's child is; Kai confirms that. He assures us that he did not shoot Sara's father.

Ruth visits her "father" in the hospital and pulls the power cord of the ventilator out of the plug, only to reconnect it after a brief thought. It turns out that Ruth also believed that the father had been abused. Since she had also told her brother this, he is now considered the main suspect. Lukas admits to having been at the scene to kill his father; but he did not shoot because someone else was ahead of him.

At the building authority, Vogt and Jakobs learn that parts of the farmland of farmer Benedikt, which Möller measured, had been designated as building land, which he must have found out.

Möller recently offered Lukas to buy part of the fallow meadows at market value so that the family could be provided for. A trap is to be set for him in that Lukas and Sara accept Möller's offer and sign the purchase contract. Möller can be fooled, and Jacobs uses a bluff to get Möller to confess. He then threatens Hauke with a revolver, but is shot down by Lona and arrested.

Finally, Kai leaves his parents' farm to move in with Sara. Farmer Benedikt succumbs to his serious injuries. Lona thanks Hauke with a hug for his help. This is observed from a safe distance from Jule; and to prevent further intimacy, she calls Hauke to lure him into the practice for a supposed emergency.

Although Lona has enough to do with the current case, she still has to take care of her father Reimar. As a former BND employee, he still wants to solve the unexplained death of his wife on his own and is shot in Hamburg. Seriously injured, he escapes to Schwanitz, where he hides with his daughter in the police station. LKA employees question Lona and Hauke, but do not discover their father. Hauke then operates Reimar Vogt in his practice. Together with Lona, he then brings him onto his boat. The next day Lona persuades her father to stop his private campaign of revenge. Since the LKA is on his trail, he escapes. Lona later accommodates him in her house, although she is actually obliged to report this to the LKA. Lona, who sold her parents' house, gives the proceeds to her father and gives him the ultimatum to leave Schwanitz on the same day.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv said: “Author Schmidt welds crime, relationship and comedy elements into a humorous story and director Herzogenrath has a good feel for the sub-texts of the fine acting trio, for the relaxed narrative pitch, for the secondary and even more for the marginal figures. The change between atmospheric landscape images & gentle touches of drama give the film a good flow, let it glide harmoniously. Thriller? Comedy? Drama? Anyway, just a good story. "
