Eva Ruth Wemme

Eva Ruth Wemme (* 1973 in Paderborn ) is a German translator and writer .

life and work

Eva Ruth Wemme studied Romanian , German, philosophy and musicology in Cologne, Berlin and Bucharest.

After completing her studies, she worked as an interpreter in the Moabit prison , as a dramaturgy assistant at the Cottbus State Theater and as a dramaturge at the Chemnitz Theater.

Eva Ruth Wemme has lived in Berlin as a translator and author since 2008. She has translated works by Mircea Cărtărescu , Nora Iuga , Ioana Nicolaie , TO Bobe , Ion Luca Caragiale and Nicoleta Esinencu from Romanian into German.

For the translation of Gabriela Adameşteanu's novel Verlorener Morgen , she received the Leipzig Book Fair's translation award in 2019 .
