Enema of the State is a music album by the US band blink-182 . It was released on June 1, 1999 and is the third studio album by the punk rock band. The album sold more than 15 million copies and was the breakthrough for the band.

Origin and style

The album was produced by Jerry Finn . The band had previously signed with the major label MCA . The album continues the west coast punk rock of its predecessors, but has a slightly clearer production. Above all, the second single All the Small Things and the accompanying music video, which is a corruption of videos by boy groups and other pop artists , contributed to the success of the album. The video was played frequently on music television. On the album cover as well as in the first video for What's My Age Again the porn actress Janine Lindemulder can be seen as a nurse.

reception

Stephen Thomas Erlewine from Allmusic missed the "emotional depth" of Green Day , but said the album was good songs that were played in a fast, powerful way. It's about a record that is fun and better than the average “neo-punk” release. The rating was four out of five stars.

Trivia

The name of the album, which can be translated as "Colon Irrigation of the State", is an allusion to the term "Enemy of the State" (public enemy).
