Neighborhoods is the sixth studio album by the American pop punk band blink-182 . It is the first album that was released after the re-establishment in 2009. The first single is called Up All Night and was broadcast for the first time on July 14, 2011 on the website and on American radio KROQ . It was originally supposed to appear in 2009.

Style and creation

Eight years after the last album, the lyrics deal less with the otherwise typical pop-punk themes and more with serious themes such as: B. death ("Ghost on the Dance Floor"), love ("Love is Dangerous") or interpersonal relationships ("After Midnight"). Such a change of heart came about through the plane crash of the drummer Travis Barker, who survived it in 2008 as the only one seriously injured with DJ Adam Goldstein .

Musically it is mostly the same as the previous albums, but musical influences from Angels & Airwaves and +44 can be heard. This time, the album was produced independently, as the producer of previous albums, Jerry Finn , succumbed to a brain hemorrhage in 2008.

trip

Blink-182 toured since August 2011 ( Honda Civic Tour with My Chemical Romance as co-headliner), ten years after her first own headlining tour.

Reviews

“When inserted and listened to, it leaves a pleasant feeling. This long player is a conglomerate of what Hoppus and DeLonge have musically launched over the years. "

“And, depending on the interpretation, what a miracle or a sacrilege: Blink-182 sound a bit more grown-up again. This is not only due to the musical development of the band, which in 2011 sounds more progressive and well thought-out, but still punky, rocky and danceable, but primarily to the themes of the album. "

"Do not expect to see Blink-182 streaking through the Nineties-nostalgia party. […] It's like Stifler from American Pie went all Revolutionary Road on our ass."
