Leonhard Lorek

Leonhard Lorek (born January 28, 1958 in Zabrze , Poland ) is a German writer and musician .

Life

In 1968 Leonhard Lorek moved with his parents to the GDR in Brandenburg an der Havel in today's state of Brandenburg . Until 1972 he attended the Polytechnische Oberschule in Plaue , he made his Abitur in 1976 in Brandenburg. In 1981 he moved to East Berlin , in 1987 he went to West Berlin .

Lorek was the initiator and namesake of the unofficial artist magazine schaden , which he initially published together with Egmont Hesse . The magazine quickly advanced to become the most prominent and influential alternative publication on the autonomous literature and art scene in the GDR. Between 1984 and 1987 it appeared in 17 editions. The complete edition is listed in several internationally renowned collections.

In addition to numerous publications in subcultural journals in the GDR, Lorek also published poems and essays elsewhere. His contributions to the anthologies Kontakt ist nur ein Randerscheinung (1985) and Language and Answer (1988) made him known in West Germany even before 1989. In 2009 his first book was published, beside lie .

Leonhard Lorek was and is involved in several bands as a lyricist and musician; these include z.art, more expensive than ever, bold, la deutsche vita, Dubach Deut and Mendelsson. In 2012 Markus Neidels artist video S-Bahn to the music from Mendelsson's album 31st was nominated in two categories for the German Web Video Award.

Leonhard Lorek lives as an author, journalist and musician in Berlin.
