Martin Krauss

Martin Krauss (* 1964 in Koblenz ) is a German political scientist and journalist . He mainly worked as a sports journalist until he became a columnist and then political editor for the Jüdischen Allgemeine in 2008 . He has published several books on sport and the tension between politics and sport.

Life

Krauss first attended school in Düsseldorf and then in Sankt Augustin , where he graduated from high school in 1983. After completing his military service, he began studying political science at the Free University of Berlin in 1984 and completed it in 1990 with a diploma thesis on the end of the GDR's sports system and its integration into a Fordist world sport.

During his studies, Krauss was editor of the anti-militarism information from 1984 to 1989 , and from 1992 to 1994 he and Michael Boltenwar edited the magazine Sportkritik - The magazine against the draw . In 1993/94 he completed further training as a television journalist at the Potsdam College in Berlin, but after several contributions for ORB and SFB he became head of the sport department of Junge Welt in 1994 , of which he was also deputy editor-in-chief from 1995 to 1997. From 1997 he worked as a freelance journalist for Jungle World , taz and Freitag and in 2000 began to write sports books. In the following year he was co-editor of the book series "ab Abenteuer: Sport" at Werkstatt-Verlag, for which he wrote two volumes himself. In between, Krauss worked as an editor for various print media such as Jungle World and Rund , most recently since 2008 for the Jüdische Allgemeine . He is a lecturer at the Berlin Media Academy.

Krauss lives and works in Berlin.
