Philippe Besson (director)

Philippe Besson (born September 30, 1962 in Berlin ) is a German director . He is the half-brother of Katharina Thalbach and Pierre Besson and the son of Benno Besson .

Career

After completing his training as a sailor for inland navigation, he took on an internship at the Vienna Burgtheater in 1986 . Another followed at the Schauspielhaus Zurich and at the Comédie de Genève. Between 1989 and 1992 he was assistant director at the Schauspielhaus Zürich and from 1994 to 1996 senior director at the Ulmer Theater . Between 1996 and 1999 he worked as a freelance director. In 1999 he took over the management of the children's and youth theaters at the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam. From the 2007/2008 season he worked as a freelance director again. From 2009 to 2011 he was senior director at the Junge Generation theater in Dresden. Freelance director since 2011.

The play We all for always together was invited to the German Children and Youth Theater Meeting 2007 . For this, Philippe Besson received a nomination for FAUST 2007 in the category Best Director Children's and Youth Theater .
